Jurgen Klopp’s men put on a show last week in their 4-0 victory over Augsburg. One man stood out more than the rest, and that was new signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. The speedy forward from Gabon scored a hat trick on his competitive debut for the club.
The biggest news heading into the match is that BVB are expecting to see the debut of summer signing Henrikh Mkhitaryan. The Armenian midfielder has been out for a few weeks after picking up an injury, but Klopp expects that he’ll see the field against Braunschweig. Mkhitaryan was fantastic for Shakhtar Donetsk over the last few years, and he’s expected to translate that right over to BVB.
Braunschweig conceded in the 82nd minute to drop all three points in their first Bundesliga season in nearly twenty years last weekend against Werder Bremen. Can they put together a solid enough performance to steal points against BVB? Defense is key. They must put together 90 minutes of fantastic defense to even have a shot.
Even the most diehard Braunschweig supporter doesn’t go into Sunday’s match against BVB expecting a victory. Die Borussen will be the heavy favorites at kickoff and should find themselves picking up all three points at the end of the day.
