After spending the summer recovering from a groin injury, Real Madrid midfielder Xabi Alonso could miss several more months after breaking a bone in his right foot.

Real Madrid announced today that the Spanish international midfielder will likely miss significant time after fracturing the fifth metatarsal in his right foot.


The club released a brief statement Wednesday on their website but did not make any official estimates about how much time Alonso will miss.
The Real Madrid player Xabi Alonso has suffered today a fracture of the fifth metatarsal of his right foot as radiological tests have revealed to which has been submitted by Real Madrid Sanitas medical services.
Several Spanish media outlets are claiming Xabi will miss three months with the injury.
Madrid’s new signing, 21-year-old Casemiro, will likely get a chance to play more minutes with Alonso’ extended absence.
