Bayern Munich maintained their perfect run to start another Bundesliga season after a 2-0 win over Nürnberg in a Bavarian Derby on Saturday at the Allianz Arena. The win extends Bayern's unbeaten run to 28 games dating back to last season, breaking an old club record.

Possession was absolutely dominated by Bayern, and they would end the match with 81 percent of the ball. Mario Götze made his competitive debut for Bayern but wasn't able to do a lot with the ball as Nürnberg sank bank and parked the bus from the first whistle. Content to sit back and counter, Der Club had the best early opportunity, but Daniel Ginczek's shot smashed against the crossbar to keep the score level.
Short thereafter, Per Nilsson fouled Arjen Robben in the penalty area, and the referee awarded a spot kick. David Alaba stepped up to take the penalty, but Raphael Schäfer made the save to keep the score level. Bayern then peppered Schäfer's goal for the remainder of the first half, but they were unable to beat the goalkeeper.
Bayern camped out in the Nürnberg half throughout the second half with Götze, Mario Mandzukic, Thomas Müller, and Franck Ribery coming close to breaking the deadlock. Finally, Ribery opened the scoring in the 69th minute when he headed home a cross from Philipp Lahm.
Robben made it 2-0 a few minutes later with a highlight reel goal. The winger dribbled through three defenders into the penalty area and megged Schäfer before the ball struck the post and trickled into the net. Bayern nearly made it 3-0 several times before the match ended, but they couldn’t put the ball into the back of the net.
The win moves Bayern back to being level on points with leaders Borussia Dortmund, but BVB remain on top due to goal difference. Nürnberg remains with two points through three games.
