Looks like Landon Donovan won't be going anywhere, after all. The LA Galaxy star has agreed to a multi-year contract extension, which is expected to be announced this week, according to a Sports Illustrated report.

Donovan was in the final year of his contract and had openly talked about interest from abroad. But this deal should keep the United States international in MLS for the foreseeable future, and at least through next summer's 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

Just last week, Donovan gave an interview with Fox Soccer Daily in which he expressed an openness to possibly leaving the Galaxy, the team for which he’s played since 2005.
Donovan has won five MLS Cups -- including three with the Galaxy -- and is poised to break the MLS career goal-scoring record. Although he’s had a pair of successful loan stints in England, the one thing he hasn’t accomplished is showing that he can succeed in Europe for an extended period. This signing suggests that one hole in his resume is not as big of a concern for him as it is for some of his detractors.
