MLS, Week 26 preview and fixtures: Yes, Timbers are playing RSL again!

The Timbers and Real Salt Lake, two of the most entertaining teams in the league, will face off for the third time in three weeks.

Jaime Valdez-USA TODAY Sports

Sometimes the scheduling gods smile. The Portland Timbers and Real Salt Lake have a cool little thing going lately and now we get to see them settle some not-so-old scores. RSL has probably gotten the better of the two previous meetings, winning the Open Cup encounter and pulling out a late tie in their last meeting. Those two results are why the Timbers have been forced to take a bit of a step back after flirting with the Supporters' Shield a few weeks ago.

Juan Agudelo is quietly having a career year, bagging eight goals, including six with the Revolution. Oh, and the Revolution play really good when he's on the field, as they are 5-1-1 with 19 goals scored in his seven appearances.

Pick: Revs, 3-1.

Does it seem like these two teams are playing each other a lot? Well, this is the third time they've met since facing each other in the U.S. Open Cup semifinals on Aug. 7. The last time they played it ended 3-3 after RSL got the stoppage-time equalizer while playing a man down on the road.

Pick: Tied, 2-2.

Just when you thought all the hard feelings from when the Sounders stole away Sigi Schmid were old news, this week's American Outlaws spat has renewed some ill-will between the fan bases. Unfortunately, the players probably have no idea about it.

Pick: Seattle, 2-1.

Saturday, 7:30 p.m. ET - MLS Live

Jack McInerney has not scored since June 1. That was a really long time ago. He came off the bench last week. Good thing the Impact are pretty bad on the road.

Pick: Union, 1-0.

Saturday, 8 p.m. ET - NBCSN

Thierry Henry and Mike Petke apparently got into a fight the other day. Nothing a home game against United can't fix.

Pick: Red Bulls, 2-0.

The Rapids are on a nine-game unbeaten streak!?!? How did that happen? It’s not going to reach 10.

Pick: Sporting KC, 2-1.

Saturday, 10 p.m. ET - MLS Live

Watch out Galaxy fans, the 1906 Ultras had their travel ban lifted and are probably going to be "on their best behavior." Wonder what kind of clever barbs they'll throw at Landon Donovan?

Pick: Galaxy, 3-1

Sunday, 3 p.m. ET - MLS Live

The Fire are one of the hottest teams in the league (not even going to apologize), going 4-1-1 in their last six and 8-3-2 in their last 13.

Pick: Fire, 2-0.

Sunday, 7 p.m. ET - MLS Live

The Whitecaps are really good at home (8-2-3) and Chivas USA are really bad on the road (1-8-3).

Pick: Whitecaps, 2-0.
