Loïc Rémy has joined Newcastle United on a season-long loan switch from Queens Park Rangers. Rémy was close to joining the Magpies last January but the transfer was hijacked by Harry Redknapp and QPR who were desperately trying to avoid relegation, which they failed to do.

French striker Loïc Rémy has completed his loan move to Newcastle United from Championship side Queens Park Rangers.

So a little later than expected Rémy has joined Newcastle though only on loan due to Newcastle's wariness to commit to a full transfer with rape allegations still hanging over the striker's head. Rémy denies the allegations and should find out in September if he will face charges.
QPR are of course looking to save some money with the team now in the Championship and moving Rémy and his £70k per week wages will be a big help to the club. This is Newcastle’s first addition since the controversial arrival of Joe Kinnear earlier in the summer as the club’s director of football.
Head coach Alan Pardew has been scrambling to add strikers but has failed to have much luck up to this point. His pursuit of Lyon striker Bafetimbi Gomis has grounded to a near halt because of agent demands and Darren Bent -- a player Pardew has been chasing for awhile -- looks more likely to join Fulham or Crystal Palace.
Rémy made 14 appearances for QPR last season, scoring six goals. He started quickly for QPR scoring in his debut but any building momentum was squashed after he picked up a groin injury in early February and missed two months.
