Manchester City will be without Serbian defender Matija Nastasic for four to six weeks as a result of an ankle injury suffered in last month's Asia Trophy victory over Sunderland.

The Manchester City defender will miss the first month of the EPL season after suffering an ankle injury in the team’s Asia Trophy final win over Sunderland in July.

Nastasic was a regular for City last season, making 30 appearances after joining the club from Fiorentina. Joleon Lescott is expected to be his replacement alongside Vincent Kompany, though Manuel Pellegrini has yet to make any statements about the news.
The 20-year-old did not travel with City to Germany for the Audi Cup and there had been hope that the injury would not end up being as serious as first thought. Details on the exact nature of the injury haven’t been released by the club, just the length of time they expect the defender to miss.
City did get some good news on the injury front though as striker Sergio Aguero is expected to return to training next week. Aguero injured his knee in a post-season friendly against Chelsea in May.
