Jay Spearing has signed a four-year contract with Bolton Wanderers, who've reportedly spent £1.4 million to sign the 24-year-old from Liverpool. Spearing established himself as one of Bolton's most important players on loan last season, as Dougie Freedman led the Trotters to a finish just outside the playoffs.
Bolton Wanderers sign Jay Spearing from Liverpool
After he impressed on loan at the Reebok Stadium last season, Bolton have signed Jay Spearing from Liverpool permanently.

Usually partnering Darren Pratley in a central midfield duo, Spearing impressed to the extent that he won the club’s player-of-the-season award. Upon completion of the transfer, Freedman was quoted on Bolton’s official website as saying:
”Jay wanted to come here and wanted to play for the Bolton Wanderers jersey. He brings qualities to the football club both on and off the field.
“We really have to thank the board and owners on this one. The support we’ve had has been great in helping us to acquire such a fantastic young player.”
With the exception of a previous loan spell at Leicester City, Spearing had spent his entire career at Liverpool, and leaves having made 55 first team appearances in all competitions for his boyhood club. He’s one of a string of proven players Bolton have signed this transfer window, as they look to win promotion back to the Premier League.
