Germany has won all but one of their World Cup qualifying games so far and are five points clear of Sweden at the top of Group C. They should have no problems maintaining their comfortable advantage at the top on Tuesday, facing a Faroe Islands team which has lost every one of their matches since June 2011.
Faroe Islands vs. Germany, 2014 World Cup qualifying: Preview and TV schedule
Germany should comfortably consolidate their position at the top of their qualifying group with a win over the Faroe Islands.
They managed to keep the score down to a respectable 3-0 defeat in the reverse fixture in Hannover, though things could feasibly be much worse for the Faroese this time around. Only Sweden has kept Joachim Löw’s side from a 100 percent win record, when they came back from 4-0 down to draw 4-4 in an incredible match in Berlin last October.
However, the Faroe Islands may take some heart from the five withdrawals from Löw's squad. The latest to pull out is Marco Reus, who joins midfielders Ilkay Gündogan, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Mario Götze and Lars Bender on the sidelines. The Germany team is too strong for the injuries to cause them major problems, though the Islanders will be hoping it helps them to limit their loss.
Match Date/Time: Tuesday, 7:45 p.m. local, 2:45 p.m. ET
Venue: Tórsvøllur, Tórshavn, Faroe Islands
TV: ARD Das Erste (Germany)
