Norway vs. Switzerland, 2014 World Cup qualifying: Preview and TV schedule

Norway is under serious pressure in Group E, having the unenviable task of hosting table-topping Switzerland on Tuesday.

Norway have only ever made three World Cup appearances, with their last coming in 1998. If they are to add a fourth and make it to Brazil 2014, they'll have to hold off a plucky charge from Albania and Iceland, who are hoping to make their first ever appearances in the tournament. Currently only a point ahead of those sides and occupying the second-place playoff spot, Norway take on Group E leaders Switzerland in Oslo on Tuesday.

A win would be a huge boost to Norway’s qualification hopes, though if they fail to beat a Swiss team that hasn’t lost in qualification so far -- provided there is a winner in the later game between Albania and Iceland -- they will be nudged down into third place.

It's a nervy time for coach Egil Olsen, though he can take heart from Switzerland's draw with Iceland on Friday, which showed the table-toppers were far from infallible. Ottmar Hitzfeld's team conceded three times in the final 35 minutes to to draw from 4-1 up. What's more, Norway hasn't lost a World Cup qualifier against the Swiss since 1984 -- coincidentally exactly 29 years ago on Wednesday.

Match Date/Time: Tuesday, 6 p.m. local, 12 p.m. ET

Venue: Ullevaal Stadion, Oslo, Norway

TV: TV 2 Norway (Norway), RTS Sport (Switzerland)
