Thanks a second substitution and a tactical shift, Mexico are putting the United States under increased pressure but with only 15 minutes left to play, El Tri is going to have to come up with something quickly.
USA vs. Mexico: El Tri switches tactics with 15 minutes left to play
Mexico's attack finally showed a bit of life in the 66th minute when Giovanni Dos Santos got the ball with the room to work on the right side. He dribbled in against a US defender and sent a looping cross that Javier Hernandez just couldn't get high enough to get his head on.
Better but still nowhere near good enough.
Luis Fernando Tena made another adjustment in the 69th minute bringing on Oribe Peralta in place of Fernando Arce. With the second striker on and a defensive midfielder off, Mexico also shifted to a 4-4-2 formation in an attempt to find a way through the US defense and free up Chicharito.
Eddie Johnson, who took a bit of a shot to the head earlier in the half, was replaced by Mix Diskerud in the 76th minute. Johnson looked a bit woozy as he left the pitch.
