Set pieces can also be a kickoff that simply shocks and overwhelms the opponent. They can be stunning.
RB Leipzig’s set piece was just that: a kickoff. They sent eight men racing into the box right as the match started and it worked to perfection as a long ball met one of the eight, it was knocked down, crossed into the center and then scored. All in nine seconds.
From now all, all match broadcasts must begin with “a brilliant set piece opportunity here for [insert team kicking off here] right off the bat.” And if it doesn’t work they better get stuck in.
