Mamadou Sakho is heading to Liverpool from Paris Saint-Germain, the Merseyside club have announced. The Reds did not disclose the fee paid to PSG, but reports from the last few days have pegged it at £16 million.
Liverpool sign Mamadou Sakho from Paris Saint-Germain
Liverpool gave their defense a much-needed boost with the signing of Mamadou Sakho.

The 23-year-old Frenchman is a product of the PSG academy, but fell out of favor under new head coach Laurent Blanc. With first team appearances looking scarce, he began to look for a move elsewhere. Despite PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi stating his desire that Sakho stay, the defender was already set on a transfer.
Sakho is wonderfully talented and has 151 appearances for PSG and 14 caps at just 23 years old, but £16 million is a lot to pay for the defender. It’s especially expensive with his contract set to expire after the season, but Liverpool made Sakho a priority and were able to secure his signature.
He should improve the Reds backline from Day 1 and, if Liverpool make it back into the top four anytime soon, Sakho will probably be in the middle of the defense when they do.
