Emiliano Viviano has joined Arsenal on a season-long loan from Serie B side Palermo, with the Gunners given the option to snap him up permanently if he impresses. They've chased various goalkeepers throughout the window to compete with current first-choice stopper Wojciech Szczęsny, though Viviano has now been confirmed as the chosen one.
Emiliano Viviano signs for Arsenal on loan
Italian goalkeeper Emiliano Viviano has joined Arsenal on a season-long loan from Serie B side Palermo.

The Italian international spent last season on loan at his boyhood club Fiorentina, though the viola elected not to take up the option to sign the 27-year-old after an underwhelming spell. He made 32 league appearances for Fiorentina, though occasionally lost his starting spot to inexperienced Brazilian Neto.
However, there's no doubt that Viviano is a capable keeper, having been capped six times by Italy at international level. He was excellent in a two season spell at Bologna before moving to Palermo via Inter Milan in 2011, and should be a solid acquisition.
