English League Cup 2013: Luis Suarez returns, plus other fun

There are 32 teams in action and a couple of days of games in the third round of the League Cup, but all eyes are on one rivalry game.

Clive Brunskill

The big story of the League Cup's third round is the return of Luis Suarez in the most hostile environment possible. Liverpool's star striker will play his first game following his suspension for biting Branislav Ivanovic on Wednesday, when Liverpool travel away to rivals Manchester United.

That match is one of five that features two top flight teams squaring off against each other. Only four of the matches feature two lower-league teams going up against each other. League One is well-represented in the third round, with four teams from that division remaining in the competition. No teams from League Two were able to get through to this round.

Unfortunately, most fans will have to catch their games on the radio if they're unable to attend in person. Only the Swindon-Chelsea and Man United-Liverpool games will be widely available on American and British television.
