FC Dallas picks up huge win, but game could well be remembered for Benitez’s audacious chip from nearly midfield.
With FC Dallas clinging to a 2-1 lead over the Whitecaps, a team they are currently fighting for a playoff spot, Benitez took a ball from around midfield and decided to attempt to shoot. Benitez had space and Whitecaps goalkeeper David Ousted was well off his line, but it still seemed an audacious attempt.
Sure enough, Benitez’s shot was perfectly weighted and managed to find the back of the net.
