MLS SuperDraft 2014: First round pick order

D.C. United will pick No. 1, followed by Philadelphia and Vancouver.

Jerry Lai-USA TODAY Sports

The first round of the MLS SuperDraft will see eight teams pick in another team’s slot because of trades and that number could rise even higher as the draft gets closer and more teams makes moves. D.C. is rumored to be interested in trading out of the No. 1 spot, making them one of many teams looking to trade down, but for now, it is just eight.

This is because of things like Chivas trading their first round pick an allocation for Gabe Farfan or the Crew giving up their pick so they could move up the allocation order and grab Michael Parkhurst. Or, for the really silly, Toronto trading their pick to Vancouver for seven matches of Eric Hassli. No matter how much money Time Leiweke splashes and how many internationals he signs, that trade is a nice reminder that TFC is still, well, TFC until they win some matches.
