The MLS SuperDraft ticked along with Picks No. 6, 7 and 8, none of which were Patrick Mullins. Pegged by nearly everyone to be a top five pick, Mullins has continued to slide, much to the delight of Tesho Akindele, Andre Lewis and Damion Lowe.

Dallas, Vancouver and Seattle pulled surprises with picks six, seven and eight.
FC Dallas selected Akindele with the No. 6 in a bit of a surprise pick. Most expected him to go at least a few picks later, if not significantly later, but Dallas apparently liked his pace on the wing. Akindele played at the Colorado School of Mines so it is a good bet that Oscar Pareja, who was the Colorado Rapids manager until weeks ago, saw him relatively often and pushed Dallas towards the winger.
Lewis is a Jamaica U-20 who is at least a year away from being ready to play in MLS, but that didn't deter the Vancouver Whitecaps. They grabbed hm at No. 7, which shouldn't be a surprise considering this is the same team that picked Omar Salgado three years ago knowing that he wasn't nearly ready for MLS then either.
The Seattle Sounders were reportedly looking to deal their No. 8 pick, but in the end they selected Lowe. A Generation adidas player, Lowe is big and strong, but will need some time to adjust to the pro game because he is still a raw player. Seattle clearly likes his potential, though, and are taking a long-term view, even with Sigi Schmid on the hot seat going into this season.
