The Philadelphia Union grabbed one of the players around whom there was the most intrigue, 6-foot-4 midfielder Pedro Ribeiro. The Brazilian has been called "a No. 10 in a center back's body" and drew raves for his technical ability, both during his time at Coastal Carolina and during the MLS Combine. The four-year player scored 31 goals and had 26 assists during his college career. The most obvious reason for his falling to the Union at No. 15 was that he'll count as an international player.

Houston then selected Wisconsin center back AJ Cochran with the No. 16 pick. The Generation adidas player scored had five goals and five assists over three seasons. He’s been called the “most dominant player in the air” by scouts.
The Timbers enjoyed a bit of luck with highly regarded Schillo Tshuma falling to them at No. 17. Many seem to think that the Generation adidas player has the potential to be the best attacking player from this draft. Tshuma followed up a breakout freshman season in which he scored 10 goals with a six-goal campaign in 2013. This might be the perfect situation for the youngster, as he’ll get a chance to be brought along slowly under a coach who understands how to develop players.
