There was to be no repeat of Domenico Berardi or Sassuolo's heroics against AC Milan last weekend. The Neroverdi were left out in the cold at a rainy Mapei Stadium, but Ciro Immobile shone in front of Italy coach Cesare Prandelli.
Sassuolo vs Torino, final score 0-2: Torino shine in the rain with clinical display
Torino continued their rise up the Serie A table thanks to a 2-0 win at Sassuolo.

The Azzurri tactician was in the stands to run the rule over Immobile, Berardi and Alessio Cerci. Immobile and Matteo Brighi got the goals in either half to lift the Granata into joint 7th place with Parma in Serie A. Sassuolo remain in the relegation places.
Both sides opted for a cautious approach in very wet conditions. Sassuolo were the first side to foray forward. Berardi teed up Jasmin Kurtic to go close and Raman Chibsah headed wide from an Alessandro Longhi cross. Berardi picked up a yellow card for a dangerous rake on Emiliano Moretti's left leg. The starlet was lucky not to be sent off.
Toro hit Sassuolo on the counter attack and opened the scoring after 25 minutes. Immobile dispossessed Thomas Manfredini to run clear on the heavy pitch and lift the ball over an advancing Gianluca Pegolo.
The pitch quickly became swamped with puddles. The away side lost Alexander Farnerud to injury and Daniele Padelli failed to deal with a Berardi free kick, resulting in Francesco Magnanelli blazing over the rebound.
Just 30 seconds after the restart, Berardi played a neat give and go with Reto Ziegler and curled wide. The away side doubled their lead from a counter attack with the second half just three minutes old. Cerci curled a shot towards the far post and an outstretched Pegolo could only touch it into Brighi's path. The midfielder tucked in the rebound while under pressure from a defender.
Eusebio Di Francesco gambled on making all three substitutions in quick succession. Immobile and Berardi continued to be the catalysts for their respective sides. Pegolo spilt one effort from Immobile, then kept out an angled drive. At the other end, Berardi hit a free kick into the Torino wall and Padelli kept out Ziegler's rebound. Meanwhile, Immobile saw another effort roll just past the far post.
Moretti blocked a Berardi effort and from the frontman's resulting corner, Kamil Glik was lucky not to score an own goal. The Torino defender rose above Manfredini and watched his flick on travel across the face of goal and out of play.
