Franck Ribéry thinks he should have won the Ballon d’Or

Apparently the French midfielder isn’t too thrilled about losing the Ballon d’Or to Cristiano Ronaldo and he’s not afraid to share his reasoning.

Franck Ribéry did not win the 2013 Ballon d'Or award and he's not happy about it. In an interview with Munich newspaper TZ, the Bayern Munich midfielder pouted about not being honored with FIFA's most prestigious individual honor and basically said he's taking his ball and going home.

“I won everything, with the team and individually. Ronaldo won nothing, I feel I had earned this award. It’s all politics.”

When prompted about trying to win next year’s award, Ribery said, “The Ballon d’Or doesn’t interest me any more.”

SOMEBODY CALL THE WAHMBULANCE!

I get that winning an award like the Ballon d'Or would be a massive honor and I think Ribéry had a good case to be considered for it, but whining about losing after the fact doesn't help you score points in the court of public opinion. After all, you're right Franck, you won everything last season. A Bundesliga title, the Champions League, the FIFA Club World Cup ... that's an impressive haul.

As great as individual honors are, don’t you think Ronaldo might trade the Ballon d’Or for that kind of success with Real Madrid?

Well ... maybe not.
