West Ham United vs. Manchester City: Preview and TV schedule

City simply need to complete 90 minutes with no meltdowns or major injuries thanks to a six-goal lead after the first leg.

Shaun Botterill

The chances of West Ham United pulling off an epic comeback in the second leg of their Capital One Cup semifinal against Manchester City are slim to none. The Irons were hammered 6-0 in the first leg by City at the Ethiad Stadium and while everyone is saying the right things in the press, this tie is all but over.

With that in mind, it’s expected that Manuel Pellegrini will rest some key players on Tuesday with their place in the final at Wembley basically secured.

West Ham manager Sam Allardyce admitted during his pre-match press conference that his team was unlikely to go though but stressed they would go out at home and try to earn a positive result.

West Ham United injuries and suspensions

In doubt: Ricardo Vaz Te (shoulder)

Manchester City injuries and suspensions

Out: Samir Nasri (knee). In Doubt: Stevan Jovetic (hamstring), Jack Rodwell (hamstring).

Both Jovetic and Rodwell could potentially return to action for City depending on how tests on their injured hamstrings went on Monday. Ricardo Vaz Te has a chance to return for West Ham for the first time since injuring his shoulder in October

Projected lineups

West Ham: Adrián, Razvan Rat, Roger Johnson, James Tomkins, Matt Taylor, Mark Noble, Stewart Downing, Ravel Morrison, Kevin Nolan, Matt Jarvis, Andy Carroll

Manchester City: Joe Hart, Micah Ricards, Joleon Lescott, Matias Nastasić, Gael Clichy, Javi Garcia, Fernadinho, Jesús Navas, David Silva, James Milner, Eden Džeko
