Sunderland haven't lost since January 1st against Aston Villa, winning three out of four matches including the first leg. While Gus Poyet's side remains stuck in the relegation zone, they could use a trip to Wembley as a building block towards saving their league season. The fact they don't need a win on Wednesday gives Sunderland some room for error, which is good considering they haven't won at Old Trafford since 1968.
For Manchester United, things continue to get worse under first year coach David Moyes. After Sunday's loss against Chelsea they find themselves in 7th place, well adrift of the battle for Champions League places. On top of that, they've only won once in all competitions since the beginning of 2014.

United fullback Patrice Evra limped off on Sunday against Chelsea and his status is unknown for Wednesday. Several players including Wayne Rooney and Robin Van Persie remain sidelined. Nemanja Vidić is suspended after picking up a red card on Sunday. Steven Fletcher is a doubt for Sunderland with achilles issues.
