Radamel Falcao ruptures knee ligaments, will miss World Cup
One of the most dynamic strikers in the game will miss this summer’s World Cup after damaging ligaments in his knee

Falcao suffered the injury in AS Monaco's Coupe de France win over Chasselay. The striker was hit in the knee by defender Soner Ertek in the 29th minute and immediately went down in obvious pain. Falcao was stretchered off the pitch and test conducted on Thursday confirmed he suffered ruptured ligaments in the knee.
Ertek was not punished for the tackle, infuriating Monaco head coach Claudio Ranieri.
The initial time line for Falcao’s recovery is six months which all but rules him out of this summer’s World Cup. It’s a big blow for Colombia who many considered a potential dark horse for the tournament. It’s an even bigger blow for fans who will now miss out on seeing one of the most dynamic goal scorers in the game play in international soccer’s biggest event.
It’s always a massive blow for Monaco who currently sit five points behind Paris Saint-Germain in the race for the Ligue 1 title.
