A few months ago, adidas announced that their famous Copa Mundial boot would appear in a very limited edition white colorway. The Copa Mundial and its derivatives, like the soft-ground-studded World Cup, are the best-selling boot in soccer history, having been on the market for 30+years. In that time, the Copa has not changed much at all, maintaining a supple kangaroo leather upper in classic black with white adidas stripes to accent it.
adidas breaks the black-and-white mold with Samba colorway Copas
The famous adidas Copa Mundial boot is getting a major makeover in time for the World Cup.

With the World Cup happening in just a few months’ time, adidas have decided to make a pretty drastic change to the Copa Mundial series. The classic boot will be offered in not one but five new colorways, mirroring the looks of the four modern silos that adidas released in the Samba Pack in early November. The classic Copa Mundial will be available in Solar Blue, Solar Zest, Blast Purple, Vivid Berry, and Solar Slime, all five of which are very bright and flashy colors.
The new-look Mundials still feature all of the things that made the Copa boot such a fan-favorite. The excellent leather upper remains, as do all of the stitched details and classic fold-down tongue.
Despite the Copa Mundial’s unwavering history, this is not the first time that adidas has put a vibrant colorway on a traditional boot. The old Profi Liga boot came in the traditional black/white colorway as well as blue/white, blue/yellow, white/gold, silver/black, and gold/white, among other colors.
Despite their nontraditional looks, this Copa will be sure to fly off the shelves like its black-on-white counterpart. They will be available from adidas and other retails in limited numbers starting on the 1st of February.
