Wednesday’s match will be a shot at redemption for Spurs who were embarrassed 6-0 by City in the first meeting between the two clubs earlier in the season. Head coach Tim Sherwood has told the media he won’t be showing his team any tape from that match, stressing it “might scare them”.
Manuel Pellegrini is looking for his side to improve defensively after a shaky start in their FA Cup win over Watford. City fell behind 2-0 and despite their comeback for an eventual 4-2 win, Pellegrini called his team's defending a disaster and that the match was a good lesson. City will welcome back both Álvaro Negrego and David Silva, both of whom sat out over the weekend nursing injuries.
