Tottenham Hotspur vs. Manchester City: Preview and TV schedule

Spurs welcome City to White Hart Lane hoping for some payback after falling 6-0 in the first match between the teams earlier in the season.

Stu Forster

Manchester City travel to London to face Tottenham in a midweek clash between the second and fifth placed clubs in the table respectively.

Wednesday’s match will be a shot at redemption for Spurs who were embarrassed 6-0 by City in the first meeting between the two clubs earlier in the season. Head coach Tim Sherwood has told the media he won’t be showing his team any tape from that match, stressing it “might scare them”.

Manuel Pellegrini is looking for his side to improve defensively after a shaky start in their FA Cup win over Watford. City fell behind 2-0 and despite their comeback for an eventual 4-2 win, Pellegrini called his team's defending a disaster and that the match was a good lesson. City will welcome back both Álvaro Negrego and David Silva, both of whom sat out over the weekend nursing injuries.

Tottenham injuries and suspensions

Out: Andros Townsend (hamstring), Erik Lamela (knock), Paulinho (ankle). In Doubt: Jan Vertonghen (ankle), Younes Kaboul (thigh), Sandro (calf).

Manchester City injuries and suspensions

Out: Samir Nasri (knee), James Milner (knock), Javi Garcia (knock).

The Spurs injury list remains extensive with several starters out or doubtful. While Vertonghen, Kabout and Sandro are all back training it’s unlikely they’ll be ready in time for Wednesday. City’s Milner and Garcia are not seriously hurt but will be held out of this match to rest from minor knocks.
