MLS Mock Draft: SB Nation bloggers pick the first two rounds

Our 19 team bloggers conducted the annual exercise of trying to crawl inside the heads of MLS front office personnel.

Evan Habeeb-USA TODAY Sports

Look, we don’t have a crystal ball. We don’t know exactly what will happen when you get a group of 19 MLS teams in a room and allow them to conduct the SuperDraft on Jan. 16. Chances are our Mock Draft is going to get a lot of picks run.

But you know what, that’s not the point. Most people conducting MLS Mock Drafts are going to get a lot of picks wrong. At the very least, we promise to be a little different.

About a week ago, representatives from all 19 of our MLS blogs convened to conduct our own mock draft. What follows are the results. We like to think that since our bloggers really only cover one team, they have a better idea than most what their team might do.

But if we’re being honest, our picks probably won’t be much more accurate than anyone else’s (and, for instance, we originally included UConn’s Cyle Larin on the assumption he’d sign a Generation adidas contract, but we ultimately replaced him with Damion Lowe, who wasn’t originally on our board). What we’ve done, though, is attempt to provide a level of context that you won’t really get anywhere else. We’ve written profiles on each of our 38 picks (that’s two full rounds, sorry, we couldn’t do the full four).

Hopefully you’ll take the time to read them all over the next week or so. Either way, we hope you enjoy. Below are links to all 38 of our profiles (click on the players’ names):
