Football League Cup 2014, Round 4: Schedule, scores and results

Chelsea, Manchester City and Liverpool are among those in action as the League Cup returns in midweek.

Michael Steele

The Capital One Cup returns in midweek, and there are plenty of big teams in action. On Tuesday, Chelsea travel to play League Two side Shrewsbury Town, who have been in excellent form in the fourth tier so far this season. 15 minutes after that game kicks off, Liverpool's match at home to Premier League rivals Swansea will get underway, as Brendan Rodgers' side tries to spark his underperforming team into life.

On Wednesday, Tottenham Hotspur play host to Championship club Brighton & Hove Albion, while Stoke City take on their in-form Premier League rivals Southampton. The big match of the day is in the northwest, where Manchester City will try to recover from a weekend loss as they host Newcastle United, who are coming off a stunning win at White Hart Lane.

The full schedule is below, with kickoffs at 3:45 p.m. unless otherwise stated. All times are ET.
