Oscar signs Chelsea contract extension

The Brazilian playmaker is to stay at Stamford Bridge until 2019.

Chelsea have announced their midfield star Oscar has signed a contract extension at Stamford Bridge. The Brazilian is now set to stay with the Blues until at least 2019, after making a fine start to the new season.

Quoted by the club’s official website, Oscar commented:

“I am so happy because I love playing for Chelsea and living in England. I have enjoyed playing here for two years, and now I have five more, so I am very happy.”

Oscar, who is now in his third season at Stamford Bridge, has established himself as one of the fixtures of José Mourinho's starting lineup, occupying a central playmaking role just behind the focal point of the attack -- usually summer signing Diego Costa.

The 23-year-old has excelled in his role of linking the Blues’ midfield and attack, and has scored four goals of his own in 15 appearances so far this season.
