Africa Cup of Nations 2015 qualifying: Schedule and results for the penultimate round

Keep checking back for more news and updates as Africa makes its way through the penultimate round of Africa Cup of Nations qualifying.

Jamie Squire

The penultimate round of Africa Cup of Nations group stage qualifying action commences on Friday and concludes on Saturday. Just hours before the first match kicked off, CAF announced that Equatorial Guinea would host the 2015 tournament, with original hosts Morocco having pulled out of their duties due to fears of the Ebola virus (and found themselves kicked out of the tournament all together).

With just a couple of rounds of the group stages to play, there's all to play for. The top two teams in each group automatically qualify for the tournament, while the third-place finishers are entered into a table, with the best ranked also given a spot in the finals. As it stands, Egypt are the best third-placed side, though they are level on points with Ivory Coast.
