Daniel Sturridge set for longer on the sidelines with thigh injury

The striker has reportedly aggravated a thigh injury in training.

Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge has only made three Premier League appearances so far this season, with the forward having been struggling with a thigh problem he picked up on international duty back in September. However, he looked set for an imminent return to action ... until now.

Reports suggest that the striker -- who hasn't been with England through the current international break -- broke down at Liverpool's Melwood training ground, leaving manager Brendan Rodgers fearing he's further aggravated his long-standing thigh injury. With the Reds having had so many struggles both domestically and in the Champions League this season, it would be terrible news.

The departure of Luis Suárez to Barcelona in the summer left Sturridge as the team's best player. Mario Balotelli's summer arrival from AC Milan was supposed to ease the burden on the England international, but the former Manchester City forward has failed to fire since returning to the Premier League. That means Liverpool need Sturridge back, and fast.
