LA Galaxy vs. Seattle Sounders: Starting lineups

Joe Nicholson-USA TODAY Sports

The Seattle Sounders will head into Sunday's first leg of the Western Conference finals against the LA Galaxy even more short-handed than they had previously feared they would. In addition to being without the services of Osvaldo Alonso (hamstring injury), the Sounders also revealed that Lamar Neagle was excused from the team to tend to a "family matter." That means the Sounders are without their third-leading scorer and arguably their best player.

Replacing Alonso in the lineup is Micheal Azira, a first-year MLS player who made just six starts this season. Marco Pappa and Brad Evans are the Sounders' starting wide midfielders.

The Galaxy, meanwhile, are about as healthy as they possibly could be and are rolling out a lineup that is their first choice.

Sounders lineup: Stefan Frei; Deandre Yedlin, Chad Marshall, Zach Scott, Leo Gonzalez; Brad Evans, Gonzalo Pineda, Azira, Marco Pappa; Clint Dempsey, Obafemi Martins.

Galaxy lineup: Jaime Penedo; AJ DeLaGarza, Omar Gonzalez, Tommy Meyer, Robbie Rogers; Stefan Ishizaki, Marcelo Sarvas, Juninho, Landon Donovan, Robbie Keane, Gyasi Zardes.
