Carmen Martinez Ayudo is an 85-year-old woman in Madrid, Spain, who recently lost her home after her son allowed it to get into huge debt. She was evicted and facing life without a home, but Rayo Vallecano have come to the rescue.
Rayo Vallecano to pay rent for evicted 85-year-old woman

The La Liga club have pledged to pay rent on the home for as long as she is alive, according to the Guardian.
The home transferred to Ayudo’s son after the woman’s husband died, and he ran the home into €70,000 of debt. Ayduo had no idea that this had happened until she was served an eviction notice last month. A local committee helped her get a reprieve, but on Friday, the police arrived to evict her.
Ayudo spent her life working as a cleaner, saying she got up at 6 am every day to do her job. And Rayo wanted to help the woman who lives near their stadium and is a part of the community.
“We’re not going to stand around and do nothing, we’re going to help this woman,” said Rayo coach Paco Jémez. “Not just me but the technical team and the players. We’ll give her a hand to find a place where she can live in dignity and not feel abandoned.”
After being told that Rayo had agreed to make payments to keep her in her home, Ayudo said, “I’ve got no more tears to cry.”
Thanks for being wonderful and lending a helping hand, Rayo.
