Zlatan Ibrahimovic could be back for massive match against Marseille

Victor Fraile

It’s been six weeks since Zlatan Ibrahimovic last took the pitch for Paris Saint-Germain, but he might be coming back for one of the biggest games of PSG’s season on Sunday. According to the Guardian, the massive Ligue 1 tilt against Marseille could mark Ibrahimovic’s return to PSG’s lineup.

Marseille are presenting the best challenge to PSG’s Ligue 1 crown in the last three years, and currently sit four points above the Parisians, meaning they’ll still hold the top spot even if they lose on Sunday. Legendary Argentinian manager Marcelo Bielsa has turned them around completely, and a result at the Parc des Princes on Sunday could ensure that they’ll stick around near the top of the table for a while.

“He has started joining in training and he’s been doing some running,” said PSG manager Laurent Blanc. “He hasn’t lost that much fitness in cardiovascular terms. If things continue to improve over the next few days anything is possible.”

In Ibrahimovic’s absence, Edinson Cavani has started up top. They’ve had some games where they’ve struggled to score without Ibrahimovic, but PSG have won their last three in a row.
