Newcastle United have been dealt a blow with the news that goalkeeper Tim Krul will be out for up to six weeks with an ankle injury.
Tim Krul set for 6 weeks on sidelines with ankle injury
The Dutch international picked up an ankle injury before the Magpies’ defeat to West Ham on the weekend.

The Dutch international picked up the knock in training ahead of the Magpies' 1-0 loss to West Ham on the weekend, and has been diagnosed as having suffered ligament damage. According to manager Alan Pardew, he will likely be back in action between January and mid-February.
The injury will allow Rob Elliot to stake a claim for a starting spot, with the 28-year-old Irish international having stood in for the Dutchman against West Ham. He joined Newcastle from Charlton Athletic back in 2011, but has made only 13 Premier League starts since.
Krul, meanwhile, first joined Newcastle as a youth player back in 2005, and established himself as a first-team regular back in the 2010-11 season. He’s since gone on to make seven appearances for the Netherlands at the international level, and will be a big miss for the Magpies.
