Chelsea players rush a stretcher onto the pitch for their injured teammate

Cesc Fabregas and Cesar Azpilicueta’s concern for Kurt Zouma caused them to do something we don’t ever see.

Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma went down with what looked like a nasty head injury in his team’s League Cup match against Derby County, and his teammates were so concerned that they rushed the stretcher onto the pitch themselves.

Cesc Fabregas and Cesar Azpilicueta were a bit unhappy with how slowly the medical assistants at Pride Park were moving, and the results were equal parts scary and heartwarming.

Hopefully Zouma's injury isn't serious. It's pretty clear from Fabregas and Azpilicueta's reaction how bad it looked in real time. Chelsea's medical staff worked with him for nearly five minutes before actually loading him onto the stretcher. The good news is that he was interacting with Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech before coming off the pitch.
