Liverpool fans really excited for Merseyside Derby that didn’t happen

“We’re playing Everton!” “No you’re not.”

Clive Brunskill

It's been 14 years since Everton have beaten Liverpool at Anfield. Even this year, with the Toffees better than they've been in decades, the Reds crushed their rival 4-0.

So when the FA Cup quarterfinals draw matched up Liverpool and Everton, and at Anfield to boot, the Reds’ supporters threw themselves a bit of a party.

Notice where they are. They are at a stadium. Emirates Stadium, to be exact. That's because they still had to beat Arsenal to get to the quarterfinals and play Everton.

They did not.

Liverpool lost to Arsenal and all of their celebrating that they would play Everton went for naught. It just made them look like tools.

Derbies!
