Copa Libertadores scores: Atletico Mineiro, Newell’s disappoint while Leon cruises
Newell’s Old Boys and Gremio missed big opportunities on Wednesday, while Club Leon surged back to the top of their group.

Ivan Marcone got Arsenal on the board first with a low strike from distance, but the Argentines couldn’t hold on to what would have been a massive road win. Luis Aguilar equalized with a gorgeous volley taken off his chest in the 70th minute, and Jonathan Rodriguez hit the winner 11 minutes later, chipping one past Cristian Campestrini with a first-time shot.
Atletico Mineiro 1-1 Nacional (PAR)
Atletico Mineiro took an early lead through Ronaldinho, who scored from the penalty spot in the 20th minute, but the Paraguayans grabbed a point with a first-half equalizer. Marcos Riveros was the hero, scoring a 20-yard free kick to steal a point for his team.
Bolivar 1-0 Flamengo
Estadio Hernando Siles strikes again. Flamengo gave up a 5th-minute penalty and never recovered. Chasing the game at altitude sucks.
Club Leon 3-0 Emelec
Leon fell behind in Group 7 with their loss away to Emelec last week, but they’re back on top after this victory. Matias Britos put the Mexicans ahead in the 20th minute with a header from 12 yards and they never looked back from there. Jose Vasquez buried an 82nd-minute penalty and Carlos Peña -- who is going to make a lot of money this summer -- capped off the scoring.
Newell’s Old Boys 1-1 Gremio
Newell’s now find themselves chasing Gremio and and Atletico Nacional after giving up a disappointing stoppage-time equalizer in this game, and need big results in the last two games to advance to the knockout stage. Maxi Rodriguez scored in the 79th minute for Newell’s, finishing from 15 yards at the end of a scramble, but the Argentines were sunk by a late Rhodolfo header.
