Andres Iniesta puts Barcelona up in El Clasico

Barcelona are on the board first in El Clasico, and in truly spectacular fashion. Real Madrid have been playing aggressively in the opening minutes, attacking fearlessly with little regard for the space they're leaving at the back, and they've been made to pay for their aggressive attitude. With the first real chance for his team, Andres Iniesta has put the Blaugrana up 1-0.

The finish and Iniesta’s run into space were both excellent, but the biggest bit of quality here was in the assist. Lionel Messi’s first touch, turn towards the goal and through ball to Iniesta were all nothing short of perfect. The positioning of the Madrid back line wasn’t great, but they might have conceded this goal even if they were perfect.

While this is a blow for Madrid, this match is far from over. Los Merengues looked like the stronger team before the goal and will have more chances to score.
