Cristiano Ronaldo scores from the spot, but was it a penalty?

Real Madrid lead El Clásico once again, but they're very fortunate to be ahead. The referee pointed to the penalty spot in the 54th minute when Dani Alves took down Cristiano Ronaldo, but replays showed that the foul occurred outside of the box.

Penalty

In defense of the referee, the challenge was right on the line and Ronaldo was moving at a ferocious pace, falling well inside the penalty area. It was a nearly impossible call to make at full speed, and unfortunately, he made the wrong one.

The finish was exactly what you’d expect from Ronaldo when he steps up to the penalty spot. It’s pretty rare to see him miss, or score anything but a perfect penalty.

Once again, Barcelona are left to chase the game. They did well the last time they were put into this spot, with Lionel Messi taking over the latter part of the second half, and he's going to need to come up with some repeat heroics.
