Real Madrid and Barcelona are certainly keeping the referee busy in El Clásico. For the third time in Sunday's thriller, the referee has pointed to the spot. He might have been incorrect to give Madrid's spot kick, but he's nailed both of Barcelona's. And with their second, the Blaugrana lead 4-3 at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Lionel Messi scores a hat trick from the spot
Andres Iniesta drew the penalty by getting absolutely sandwiched by Dani Carvajal and Xabi Alonso. The latter player was the man who the foul went against, and because of his challenge on Iniesta, the Blaugrana are inching closer to a regular season Clásico sweep.
Lionel Messi took the second penalty, just like he took the first, and he converted with a perfect shot into the top corner. That finish sealed a hat trick for Messi, making him a more prolific scorer in this fixture than Alfredo Di Stefano and Hugo Sanchez.
If this result holds, Atletico Madrid will lead La Liga.
