Thanks to an agreement between the two clubs, and UEFA rules, Thibaut Courtois starts in goal for Atleético Madrid. Courtois is on loan from Chelsea and there had been concern he might not be able to play. With the Belgian between the post, Atléti’s defense is at full strength, and since defense is their strong suit, that’s a positive. Diego Costa, the team’s leading scorer, is the lone striker.
