Dallas had to wear away jerseys because red and gray are the same color

Everyone confuses red and gray. Everyone.

Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

On Saturday, FC Dallas players woke up in their own homes, got in their own cars, drove into their own stadium and got changed in the home dressing room. And they put on their away kits.

Of course.

Despite playing at home, Dallas couldn't wear their home kits against Toronto FC because FCD's home kits are red and Toronto's away kits are gray. See, make sense!

Apparently, red and dark gray are too similar of colors for the teams to wear. I mean, can you tell the difference?

Exactly, they are basically the same color.

Because red and gray are the same color, Toronto wore their red home kits and Dallas wore their white and blue away kits. Apparently this requires clarification so to be clear, red and white/blue are not the same colors.

So where do we point the finger? Probably adidas, who should have known that red and gray are the same color. If they knew this, they could have made Toronto’s away kit white or some other color that is not red. And not gray.

And thus ends your lesson in colors: red = gray.
