Cristiano Ronaldo is awesome. We know this, but he likes to remind us from time to time, and on Saturday, he did just that, scoring two spectacular goals as Real Madrid hammered Osasuna 4-0.

It took a mere six minutes for Ronaldo to make an impact in his return to league play. It was a typical bit of brilliance from the Portuguese striker, who launched a curling shot from outside the Osasuna box that completely froze goalkeeper Andrés Fernández as the ball sailed past him and into the top corner. You couldn’t help but feel bad for Andrés, who realized about halfway though the ball’s flight that he had no hope of making a play, and basically gave up.
Despite dominating Osasuna throughout the first half, Madrid failed to find a second goal before the halftime break.
No matter though, as Ronaldo needed just seven minutes of play in the second half to double the Real Madrid lead. The play itself was nearly the same as the first goal -- Ronaldo dribbles in from the left wing, finds some space and beats Andrés from distance. Unlike the first one, though, there was no curve. Instead, Ronaldo just uncorked a missile that rose up and into the far corner.
The goal was Ronaldo's 30th of the season in league play. He became just the second player in La Liga history to score at last 30 in four straight seasons. The other is, of course, Lionel Messi.
In the 60th minute, Sergio Ramos made it 3-0, towering over Osasuna defenders and beating Andrés with a downward header off an excellent cross from Ángel di María. Dani Carvajal scored a rare goal in the 83rd minute, splitting the Osasuna defense and heading the ball over Andrés to extend the lead to 4-0.
The win moved Madrid back within three points of league leaders Atlético Madrid, with one game still in hand on their city rivals.
