Ryan Giggs elected not to pick himself in Manchester United's 18-man squad for his first game as manager, instead putting on a suit and staying on the sidelines. The players that he picked did just fine without him, comfortably defeating Norwich City 4-0, inching the Canaries closer to relegation.
Manchester United vs. Norwich City: Final score 4-0, a great debut for Ryan Giggs
This should help David Moyes’ reputation.

There wasn't much in the game until the 40th minute, when Danny Welbeck won a penalty. Steven Whittaker stuck his leg out, then tried to pull it back to avoid fouling, but caught Welbeck, causing the referee to point to the spot. Wayne Rooney finished, and with United leading, Norwich had to attack in the second half. That didn't go terribly well for them.
Rooney's second goal was a bit of a lucky one, though his strike was nice nonetheless. He slipped and fell while shooting from 25 yards out, which actually resulted in him hitting a very nice strike off the inside of the far post that John Ruddy wasn't able to stop.
Juan Mata was introduced in the 60th minute, which Norwich didn't seem to notice. For whatever reason, they decided not to mark him at all on his 63rd minute goal, tapped in off a cross from Phil Jones. He scored again 10 minutes later, this time with Antonio Valencia providing the assist.
United weren't as stellar as a 4-0 score suggests, but they certainly looked better than they did under David Moyes. Norwich, meanwhile, look like a team that deserves to drop down a division.
