Chelsea went to Anfield with a plan to put men behind the ball, defend well and frustrate Liverpool. If they could then find a chance to get forward and nab a goal, all the better, but the focus was on defending, and it worked. Chelsea won 2-0
Jamie Carragher: Liverpool have played exactly like Chelsea did
Liverpool would never defend like Chelsea did, except for those times that they did.

Liverpool didn't take too kindly to it. Whether it was Brendan Rodgers talking down to Chelsea's tactics or their fans' disgust over the Blues' style of play. The Reds carried an air of superiority, even in defeat.
You see, Liverpool, as a club, are above such things. Except that they have done the exact same thing Chelsea did.
Enter former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher.
“I’ve done it playing for Liverpool,” Carragher told Sky Sports.
”I remember going to Barcelona in 2001 in the UEFA Cup and we got a 0-0. We did exactly the same as what Chelsea did yesterday, we went there for our clean sheet. Johan Cruyff said after the game we were a disgrace to football.
“You can’t complain and say ‘we don’t play like that’. We’ve done it before and been successful at it.”
But Liverpool aren’t that kind of club! It is the wrong way to play football and they are above such things.
Oh, and let’s not forget: Chelsea scored two goals.
