Edy Reja's side remain in the mix for a Europa League place following last weekend's dramatic 3-2 victory against Parma, which saw Antonio Candreva register a stoppage time winner. The Biancocelesti are one of a cluster of clubs who can still finish in the top five, and will fancy their chances against a Sampdoria side who last won this fixture at the Olimpico back in 2005.
Lazio vs Sampdoria: Preview and TV schedule
Lazio have re-ignited their European push and welcome a much improved Sampdoria to Rome on Sunday afternoon.
Sinisa Mihajlovic has transformed Samp's fortunes since taking over late last year, taking them from relegation candidates to the safety of mid-table. The fiery Serb returns to one of his former playing clubs, but will have to watch the game from the stands after being sent off in last weekend's goalless draw at home to Fiorentina.
Lucas Biglia has made a speedy recovery from a rib injury and could be restored to the Lazio midfield, but Alvaro Gonzalez is out with a calf problem and Cristian Ledesma serves the final game of a suspension. Andre Dias and Diego Novaretti remain sidelined along with Ederson, who's out for the season.
A hamstring injury keeps Sampdoria captain Daniele Gastaldello on the sidelines. Other than that, Mihajlovic has a full strength side to choose from.
Both sides drew 1-1 in the reverse fixture back in November. Lorik Cana scored in the final seconds to deny Mihajlovic a victory in his first game on the Blucerchiati bench.
