With their 2-0 win over West Ham United on the final day of the season, Manchester City have clinched the Premier League title.
Manchester City win 2013-14 Premier League title
The Citizens won on the final day to put the cherry on top of a great season.
Manchester City entered the final day of the season only needing a draw to clinch the title. They had just a two-point advantage on Liverpool after 37 rounds, but their goal differential was 13 better. Though, crazier things have happened than a team as poor and psychologically broken as this Newcastle side giving up 14 goals.
In the middle of the season, City were on an absolute rampage and looked like they would be able to win the title very comfortably. But despite scoring 100 goals and finishing with the league's best goal differential by a wide margin, City did somehow manage to lose six games. Their losses against title rivals Chelsea and Liverpool late in the season left the title race out of their own control, but massive late slip-ups from those two teams against smaller opposition put them back in first place.
Manager Manuel Pellegrini has been a big success in La Liga and in South America, but this is the first time he has won a major European league. This is his third European trophy, after City’s League Cup win earlier in the year and Villarreal’s Intertoto Cup in 2004.
