2014 World Cup squads: Ecuador name 30-man provisional team

Ecuador’s team has no surprises.

Mike Stobe

Ecuador have announced their 30-man provisional roster for the 2014 World Cup, headlined by Manchester United's Antonio Valencia. He's been in average form for his club, but he's always a key player for his country.

The team is filled out by most of the usual suspects that have helped them through qualifying, and there have been no shock exclusions.

When Ecuador cuts their team down to 23 players, they’ll have to make most of their cuts in midfield and up top. They’ve only brought three goalkeepers and don’t have a huge group of defenders in camp, but they’ll probably cut half of their forwards and a couple of midfielders.

As a note, everyone listed below as playing for Barcelona plays for the club of that name in Ecuador, not Spain.

Goalkeepers: Maximo Banguera (Barcelona), Adrian Bone (El Nacional), Alexander Dominguez (LDU Quito)

Defenders: Gabriel Achilier (Emelec), Walter Ayovi (Pachuca), Oscar Bagui (Emelec), Frickson Erazo (Flamengo), Jorge Guagua (Emelec), John Narvaez (El Nacional), Juan Carlos Paredes (Barcelona), Cristian Ramirez (Fortuna Düsseldorf)

Midfielders: Michael Arroyo (Atlante), Segundo Castillo (Al-Hilal), Carlos Gruezo (Stuttgart), Renato Ibarra (Vitesse), Fidel Martinez (Tijuana), Edison Mendez (Santa Fe), Oswaldo Minda (Chivas USA), Christian Noboa (Dinamo Moscow), Pedro Quinonez (Emelec), Luis Saritama (Barcelona), Antonio Valencia (Manchester United)

Forwards: Jaime Ayovi (Tijuana), Felipe Caicedo (Al-Jazira), Angel Mena (Emelec), Jefferson Montero (Morelia), Cristian Penilla (Barcelona), Joao Rojas (Cruz Azul), Enner Valencia (Pachuca), Armando Wila (Universidad Catolica)
