Claudio Ranieri leaves AS Monaco

Monaco have confirmed the departure of their coach, Claudio Ranieri.

Ligue 1 runners-up AS Monaco have confirmed the departure of their coach, Claudio Ranieri. The 62-year-old Italian had been in charge of the club since May 2012, leading it to promotion from Ligue 2 and a subsequent second-place finish in its first season back in the top flight.

Certainly, Ranieri did an excellent job at Monaco, finishing just nine points behind league winners Paris Saint-Germain this season. That’s despite having had a great wave of new players to integrate into the team after a big summer spending spree. However, it seems as if Monaco wanted a younger coach to lead them forward. Reports suggest that former Sporting Lisbon boss Leonardo Jardim will take over after Ranieri.

This isn’t the first time Ranieri has lost a job after being not quite good enough to win a title. He has now finished second place in Serie A, La Liga, the Premier League and Ligue 1. Quick, Schalke or Dortmund, give him a call. He needs to complete the super-cycle.
